Our Aims

MTA take a lead in organizing several conferences and events for the takaful industry with the aims;

Providing a platform for industry professionals to come together and exchange knowledge, ideas, and best practices. These events often feature expert speakers and panel discussions, offering valuable insights into the latest trends and developments in the takaful sector.
Fostering networking opportunities. They bring together individuals from various organizations not just within the takaful industry but including other Islamic Finance eco-system, creating a conducive environment for building relationships, collaborations, and partnerships. Networking is crucial for professionals to expand their professional circles, explore potential business opportunities, and stay updated on industry news.

Zainudin then broadened his expertise and influence during his tenure with HSBC, where he played a crucial role in the growth and development of the bank’s takaful services. His leadership and deep industry knowledge led to his appointment as chairman of the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), where he was instrumental in promoting and advancing the takaful industry in Malaysia. Today, Zainudin is the president and CEO of Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd, continuing his impactful career in the insurance and takaful sectors. In this podcast, Zainudin shares his experiences, insights, and hopes for the future of the takaful industry.

Ezamshah Ismail was one of the earliest students in the actuarial science programme of ITM (now known as UiTM). At that time there were only 4 students. He then went on to do his masters at Northeastern University (USA), which at that time was one of the top universities for Actuarial Science. After graduating from Northeastern he worked for Mercer in New York and then came to work in Mercer Kuala Lumpur. Mercer acquired Duncan C Fraser and eventually became Actuarial Partners.

Mohamad Salihuddin Ahmad was the CEO of the first multinational involved in Takaful in Malaysia, PruBSN. He then went on to help the largest life insurer in Malaysia at that time, Great Eastern, obtain a Takaful license and start operations. Currently he sits on the board of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia. In this interview he shares with us his experiences as well as the values that guided his management style.

He shares with us his experiences and insights into the development of the composite Takaful company and the story behind Takaful Ikhlas: how the name and logo came about, as well as the expectations and unique aspects of Takaful Ikhlas. Dato’ Syed Moheeb also discusses the introduction of the Wakalah model in Malaysia and the challenges of the agency distribution channel. He then touches upon his current involvement in Takaful, the acceptance of Takaful in Malaysia, and offers valuable advice for current and future Takaful CEOs.

In pursuit of the issuance of BNM’s Exposure Draft of Risk Based Capital Takaful (RBCT), Malaysia Takaful Association had invited experts from Milliman for a workshop with Family Takaful operators. This session aims to delve deeper into the key changes between RBC1 and the draft RBC2. The workshop was scheduled for 7 August 2024 at Menara AIA was attended by 62 participants from all Family Takaful and Retakaful operators.
